Cover Reveal for 'Heart of Kylassame' by Kristi Strong

Evening, readers!

I am excited to introduce this great new book by one of my favorite authors and friends: Heart of Kylassame by Kristi Strong. This is the second novel in the series, following The Lady of Steinbrekka. Check out the cover and book blurb below as well as Kristi's bio, and be on the lookout for Heart of Kylassame June 26th!

                                                                Book Blurb

It has been two years since the reign of the tyrannical King Verikhan has ended, and the realm of Kaldalangra flourishes.

Nyssa has taken her place as Queen of the realm, with her secret love, Sebast, now openly at her side. She rules with a fair hand, striving for justice and prosperity for all of her people.

Rowan and Rhea travel the realm, spreading peace and healing wherever they go. In Kylassame, they have formed a strong bond with friends and spread deep roots in the community.

The people of Kaldalangra are joyful, and life in their world is better than ever before.

But a string of tragedies has the ability to bring Rhea to her knees, and with her, the entire realm. While Rowan struggles to recover the village of Kylassame from a devastating crime, Rhea’s faith in her own strength weakens, with dire consequences.

Re-enter the world of Kaldalangra, and join the adventure as Rhea and Rowan endeavor to continue upon their chosen destiny.

A Bit about the Author

Fixing broken computers, wrangling a very spirited little toddler, and creating a world with a tyrant king, are all parts of the average day for Kristi Strong. While she has called Virginia her home for two decades, her head has rested in two countries, three states, and far too many houses to count. She was more than happy to give up her nomadic lifestyle and settle down with her husband, daughter, and the small zoo some people call “pets.”

While attending James Madison University, she was given the rare opportunity to work as part of an archaeological team on a variety of dig sites in Virginia, including the homes of former Presidents, James Madison and George Washington, civil war sites such as The Steven’s House and Fort Evan’s Mississippian Encampment, and a variety of pre-historic hunting sites and camps.

Kristi now uses her extensive studies in human cultures (aka, Anthropology degree), to create her own world in her fantasy novels, beginning with her debut novel, The Lady of Steinbrekka

First in a four part series, The Lady of Steinbrekka introduces readers to the realm of Kaldalangra as they follow the adventures of Rhea, a young woman who gets kidnapped and taken to Kaldalangra for less-than-friendly reasons. While there, readers will encounter a wide variety of characters, both good and evil, supernatural beings, and watch as Rhea struggles to choose her own destiny.

The second book in the series, Heart of Kylassame, is due to be released June 2013. A third tale of Kaldalangra, Soul of Asimina, currently in edits and scheduled for a tentative Christmas 2013 release date.

What's New

So, I promised everyone a blog post…and then forgot. Let’s just say life has been extremely busy these past few months. The good news is, all that busy-ness has paid off and there are many exciting developments in the works!
What’s new in my writer world?

Book Releases
As you all know, The Never (standalone) and Into the Shadow Realm (Whisper, #3) were both released this past March. The Never has been doing incredibly well, so clearly I’m not the only one who enjoys a good fantasy story :).

Editing Services
In addition to writing, teaching, and my full-time job, I’ve been working hard on building my independent editing business. Novels, novellas, non-fiction books, resumes – whatever needs editing, I’m your girl. This year alone I’m approaching 15 books edited. Not too shabby for someone with 28 other jobs (I may be exaggerating just a bit). With the success of this new venture, I’ve also launched a Facebook page that can be found here. Forgive me if it’s slow-going at the start. I have a lot on my plate at the moment, but plan to update the page with writing and editing tips to help authors and aspiring writers.

2013 has been the year of events! From small gatherings to powwows to high school workshops to literacy events, I’ve been making my way around the state. In August I’ll be attending the first annual Indie BookFest in Orlando (stay tuned for details) and October will be the annual Port Orange Family Days. Can’t wait!

In the Works
Now for the fun stuff. What am I currently writing, you ask?

Helping Hands #4 – Yes, FINALLY, 2013 will see the publication of the next book in the Helping Hands series. It used to have a title, but I recently decided I wanted to change it so now I’m stuck with a nameless book. The book is written, so I just need to buckle down and edit a novel I wrote, oh, eight years ago.

Whisper Spin-Offs – Y’all know I can’t quit my Whisper characters. I love them all too much. First up will be the fourth and final book of The Whisper Legacy, a sort of prequel that tells how the Raven-Eater came to be. After that is written, I have a couple spin-offs planned with characters introduced throughout the books, including Father Moon and Sapana from Into the Shadow Realm.

Standalone Novels – I am currently about 10 pages in to my WIP, a book that follows one woman on a harrowing trip into darkness when she is abducted. Weakened by beatings, terrified of the dark, and unable to escape her windowless cell, she must fight her way to freedom before “the boss” comes for her. Who is the boss? What does he want with her? How will she escape? Stay tuned to find out.

And now, a picture of my beautiful table from an event a few weeks ago. Definitely growing and improving with each new book and event!

A Great Giveaway Featuring 'Ageless Sea' by M.R. Polish

Today marks the first month that Ageless Sea has been out and I am excited about it. I am so excited that I want to give you an ereader with the cover of Ageless Sea on it, AND I will even sign it! It is just a small token of my appreciation. BUT I have even better news, I will let the winner pick if they would like a Kindle (to use with Amazon) OR a Nook Touch (to use with Barnes & Noble)!!! That's right, should you win, YOU get to pick!
Now, on to the good stuff! How can it get any better than winning an ereader? Well, getting a look at the book that started this awesome giveaway of course! First, let's set the mood...           I think this song fits so well for the whole book. If you have read it - do you hear it? I can hear Brady singing  it to Karis lol. I listened to this song while writing Ageless Sea and it is on my playlist over on Spotify, should you want to listen to the whole "soundtrack" I used. Can you pick out any songs for certain scenes???           While writing Ageless Sea I didn't sleep much, my keyboard became my pillow. From beginning to end, my characters kept me on my toes. They changed into amazing people that I am happy to share with you. Ageless Sea started off with a dream I had in the middle of the night. I remember rolling over and grabbing my phone to take notes because it was perfect and since then I haven't been able to get Karis or Brady too far out of my mind.             One thing I didn't realize until I started writing, was that Brady was funny. I laughed out loud many times while writing and my family would look at me with that 'she's losing it' look and move on. Here is a part of one of the first scenes where he shows his humorous side:

“What is that?”
Karis looked up from the fire with a scowl. “Dinner. What did you think it was?”
“Oh no, I’m not eating that, that thing.” Brady pointed at the sea urchin she held in her hands.
She let her shoulders droop. “We don’t eat the whole thing, just this part.” She dangled a small portion of it with her fingers.
“Oh hell no!” He held his hands up. “I won’t eat Rocky Mountain Oysters, what makes you think I’d eat them off a sea creature.” He placed a hand over his mouth. “I think I’m gonna be sick.”
She laughed. It never crossed her mind that eating that part of the urchin would be distasteful to him. She’d eaten them for so long it was like second nature.
Karis shrugged. “We could go fishing if you prefer?”
“Yes, I prefer.” He glanced at the urchin one more time and cringed. “Can you please just toss it out or something? I can’t believe you eat those.”
Karis rolled her eyes at him. “For such a strong guy, you’re sure weak.” She picked up the basket of urchins and laid them aside.  “So are you fishing or am I?”
He grabbed the fishing basket and started down the trail. “I think I can figure it out.”

I love to write fantasy, so it was fun to create the world's inside this book. Romance with fantasy, that is my favorite, so that is what I did. I can't tell you how much you all mean to me. I love that you enjoy my stories as much as I do and how excited you get with your favorite characters... or sometimes even the messages about how you lost sleep because you couldn't put the my book down, makes me happy. I love hearing from all of you and can't thank you enough. I really hope you love Karis and Brady and their journey as much as I do!
